Therefore it is not strange.....

By Sheikh Abdullah Azzam

My brothers, I will mention here the blessings and ease that Allah has surrounded us with in the midst of this constant storm of problems that afflict this small group that seeks nothing but to serve the Afghan Jihad. I mention these examples, and I feel the blessings descending due to their presence among us, their supplication for us, their truthfulness and sincerity, and their use of the scales of the Lord of the worlds.

I think of Aba ‘Asim  and I think of Sa’ud al-Bahri, and I think of ‘Abd al-Wahhab al-Ghamidi, and I think of Yahya Sinyur, and I feel mercy descending upon us, and blessings filling our actions, and ease and success towards our destination – all due to the presence of these salihin who were chosen and taken by Allah, and we hope from Allah that they are martyrs with Him just as we testify for them in this world that they are martyrs.

I remember Sa’ud the day I was sitting with him – he was much, much younger than me and I felt like nothing in front of this lofty mountain of sincerity, dedication, firmness, and forgetfulness of the entire dunya. He would seek death wherever he could find it: “…taking hold of the reins of his horse whenever he hears the sound of alarm and commotion, seeking death wherever he can find it.”

Because of this, it is not strange that you see the light that had filled his heart begin to emanate from his grave towards the sky and returning, as witnessed by someone who is with you, and to which an Afghan testified to as well…

It is not strange that we see the corpse of Sa’d ar-Rashud eighteen hours after his martyrdom trembling at the sound of the Qur’an…

It is not strange that we smell the scent of Yahya from a distance of over five hundred meters, and that the hospital that handled his pure corpse smelled of musk for an entire week afterwards…

It is not strange that we still hear the sound of takbir coming from the grave of ‘Abdullah al- Ghamidi, as witnessed by Nadhar Muhammad – the commander of his region – and others who were fighting in the same region as he. I asked for further details, and they said to me: “If you wish to hear this takbir, come stay with us in our region…”

It is not strange that you smell the clothes of ‘Abd ar-Rahman al-Banna – Hamdi al-Banna –and they are still with us in this library four months after his martyrdom, and his hat and personal items emanate a sweet scent that the Afghans smell, saying: “This is the scent of a martyr…”

These miracles are not just empty claims or chatter. Rather, they were seen by the eye and smelled by the nose of many of those present. There is a youth who is sitting and listening amongst us right now who had Kalashnikov bullets shot at him. The bullets pierced his shoes, but he was uninjured. These shoes are here somewhere in the pile of your shoes, and their owner sits among you.

It is not strange that five mortar rounds are shot over a single trench containing three brothers: the Arab survives, the Afghan falls as a martyr into the arms of the Arab, and Allah is a witness that after his martyrdom, his corpse would emanate a smoke that smelled like the musk of ‘ud. It spread musk into the air, and this brother who held him is sitting with us now! He hears my words that I am speaking right now! Smoke!!

It is not strange that you know exactly when the soul leaves one’s body due to the emergence of a sweet smell of musk filling the car in which the wounded are transported, as occurred with ‘Abd as-Samad (may Allah have Mercy upon him). They said: “We did not know that his soul had left his body except after a sweet smell began emanating from his body…his pure body, which we ask Allah to make the Angels greet it by saying: ‘Come out, O sweet soul in a sweet body which you used to beautify it in the worldly life. Come out to sweet gardens and a Lord Who is not angry with you…’

The examples that are raised in such conditions are what Allah uses to protect societies from destruction. Societies feel safe because of them; victory comes down like rain because of them, people are provided for because of them, and punishments that descend from the sky are repelled because of them.

My brothers, do not think that an abundance of weapons is what brings about swift victory, and do not think that an abundance of wealth is what brings about swift victory. Rather, what brings about victory is the supplication of the righteous. During the conquest of the lands of the Turks and beyond – part of the land which is now considered part of the Soviet Union – Qutaybah bin Muslim al-Bahili saw a hand and a finger pointed towards the sky, and he said: “What is this hand that whispers to the sky?” They said to him: “It is the hand of Muhammad bin Wasi’.” They said: “Indeed, I love this more than 300,000 swords descending upon the disbelieving Turks. This hand that whispers to the sky in the course of battle is more beloved to me than 300,000 swords in the Path of Allah.”

Examples! But, they were examples that were nurtured upon truthfulness, by pure hands. They were turned away from this world by way of the souls who were free of the filth and blemishes of the Earth. So, they began walking on the Earth with their bodies, yet their souls were living in the heavens, participating with the Angels in making istighfar for those on Earth.

“Those who bear the Throne and those around it glorify the praises of their Lord and believe in Him, and ask Forgiveness for those who believe: “Our Lord! You comprehend all things in mercy and knowledge. So, Forgive those who repent and follow Your Way, and save them from the torment of the blazing Fire!” (Surah Ghafir: 7)

And in the authentic divine hadith, Allah Said: “I never hesitate in anything like I hesitate in grabbing the soul of My believing servant. He hates death, and I hate to make him displeased or to harm him.” al-Bukhari (6502). So, the Lord of Glory hesitates in taking his soul since Hehates to harm His Muslim servant.
This is the cream of the people. Search for it. Live with it. Travel with it as your guide and under its leadership. Worship Allah by way of the light that you see and hear from them.

Some miracles that happened to righteous people

With regard to karaamaat (miracles) of the righteous among this ummah, such as the scholars, devoted worshippers and ascetics, there are many such stories. We will quote a few examples of such incidents that were narrated by the scholars in their books. However we should point out that many of the stories that have been narrated in this regard may not be sound, so it is essential to verify reports of this nature before taking them seriously or quoting them.

It was narrated that Qays ibn Abi Haazim said: I saw Khaalid ibn al-Waleed (may Allah be pleased with him) in Heerah. Some poison was brought to him and he said: What is this? They said: Poison that kills in a very short time. He said: Bismillah (in the name of Allah), then he swallowed it and nothing bad happened to him.

(Sharh Usool I‘tiqaad Ahl as-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa‘ah, 6/498; al-Bidaayah wa’n-Nihaayah, 6/382)

It was narrated that Thaabit al-Bunaani said: I was with Anas when his steward came to him and said: O Abu Hamzah, our land is very dry. Anas got up and did wudoo’, then he went out to the desert and prayed two rak‘ahs, then he offered supplication (du‘aa’). And I saw the clouds gathering, then it rained until everything was full. When the rain stopped, Anas sent one of his family members to look and said: See how far the rain reached. So he looked and it had not reached beyond his land except a short distance.

(End quote from Sharh Usool I‘tiqaad Ahl as-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa‘ah, 7/11; al-Bidaayah wa’n-Nihaayah, 9/107)

It was narrated that Ja‘far ibn Zayd al-‘Abdi said: We went out on campaign to Kabul and among the army was Silah ibn Ashyam. When we got close to the land of the enemy, the commander said: No one among the troops should wander off away from the army. A mule of Silah’s strayed, carrying its load, and he started to pray. It was said: The people (i.e. the army) have started moving on. He said: It is only two brief rak‘ahs. Then he offered supplication (du‘aa’) and said: O Allah, I urge You to return my mule and its load to me. Then it came and stood in front of him.

(End quote from Sharh Usool I‘tiqaad Ahl as-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa‘ah, 7/142)

It was narrated that Naafi‘ ibn Abi Nu‘aym said: When Abu Ja‘far Yazeed ibn al-Qa‘qaa‘ al-Qaari’ was washed (ghusl) after he died, they looked at the area between his throat and chest and saw that it looked like a page of the Mushaf. He said: None of those who were present doubted that it was the light of the Qur’aan.

(End quote from Tahdheeb al-Kamaal, 33/201)

It was narrated from Muhammad ibn Ziyaad al-Alhaani, from Abu Muslim al-Khawlaani, that a woman turned his wife against him, so he prayed against her and she lost her sight. Then she came to him and said: O Abu Muslim, I did such and such, but I shall not do it again. He said: O Allah, if she is telling the truth then restore her sight to her. And she regained her sight.

(End quote from Hilyat al-Awliya’, 5/121)

It was narrated that Bilaal ibn Ka‘b al-‘Akki said: Some boys said to Abu Muslim al-Khawlaani when a gazelle passed by: Pray to Allah to detain this gazelle for us. He prayed to Allah (du‘aa’) and He detained it until they caught it with their hands.

(End quote from Tareekh Dimashq, 27/215)

It was narrated that Shaqeeq said: I was in some farmland of mine when a cloud came, and I heard from it a voice saying: Rain on the land of So and so. So I went to the man and said: What do you do with your crops? He said: I plant one third (i.e., save the seeds for planting), I eat one third and I give one third in charity.

(End quote from Sharh Usool I‘tiqaad Ahl as-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa‘ah, 7/94)

It was narrated from Abu’l-‘Alaa’ ibn ‘Abdillah ibn ash-Shakhkheer that ‘Aamir ibn ‘Abd Qays used to take his stipend and carry it in the hem of his rida’ (upper garment), and he would not meet any of the poor who asked him for something but he would give him something. Then when he entered upon his family, he gave it to them and they counted it, and it was the same as what he had been given (i.e., it had not decreased at all).

(End quote from Tareekh Dumashq, 26/29; al-Isaabah, 5/77)

It was narrated that Yoonus said: When Mutarrif ibn ‘Abdillah entered his house, the vessels in his house would glorify Allah.

(End quote from Tareekh Dimashq, 58/323; Hilyat al-Awliya’, 2/206)

It was narrated that Qataadah said: Mutarrif ibn ‘Abdillah and a companion of his were walking on a dark night, and at the end of the whip of one of them there was a light. He said to his companion: If we tell people about this they will say that we are lying. Mutarrif said: The one who says we are lying is more of a liar.

(End quote from Hilyat al-Awliya’, 2/205; Siyar A‘laam an-Nubala’, 4/193)

It was narrated that al-Jurayri said: ‘Abdullah ibn Shaqeeq was a man whose du‘aa’s were answered. Clouds would pass by him and he would say: O Allah, do not let them go beyond such and such a place before it rains, and they would not go beyond that place before it rained.

(End quote from Tareekh Dimashq, 29/161)

It was narrated that al-Haarith ibn an-Nu‘maan said: Ibraaheem ibn Adham used to pick fresh dates from oak trees.

(End quote from Tareekh Dimashq, 6/326; Siyar A‘laam an-Nubala’, 7/393)

It was narrated that Yahya ibn Katheer al-Basri said: Kahmas ibn al-Hasan bought some flour for one dirham and ate some of it, then after a long time he weighed it and found that it was the same weight as when he bought it.

(End quote from Siyar A‘laam an-Nubala’, 6/317)

International Patents for Quranic eye drops

For the first time, an Egyptian scientist manufactures drops for treating cataracts inspired by Yoosuf's shirt.

This is an interview with Prof. Dr. ‘Abdul Basit Muhammad sayyid a researcher in the National Research Center in Egypt who acquired two international patents after manufacturing eye drops to treat cataracts, inspired by the text of Soorah Yoosuf.

Q. Every idea has a beginning. What was it and how did this research begin?

A. It began with the Holy Quran. One day at Fajr I was reading the Book of Allah, in the story of Yoosuf (Joseph) peace be upon him. That amazing story made me pause and I began to think of the verses which tells the story of the conspiracy of Yoosuf’s brothers against him, and how his father ended up after he lost him, how he lost his eye sight and was affected by cataracts, and then how the Mercy of Allah reached him in the shirt of healing which the bringer of glad tidings threw on his face and he regained his sight.
I began to wonder what could have been in Yoosuf’s shirt so that this healing could take place and his eyesight could be restored. Although I believe that the story tells of a miracle which Allah, Most High, caused to happen at the hands of one of His Prophets, namely Yoosuf, peace be upon him, I realized that in addition to the spiritual aspect that may be understood from the story, there was also a material aspect which we may understand through research and which would confirm the truthfulness of the Quran which tells us this story as it happened. So I began to research until Allah guided me to this matter.

Q. Can you explain scientifically the meaning of the whiteness that effects the eye or what is called cataracts?

A. The whiteness that affects the eye or cataracts is a kind of opacity which happens in the lens of the eye and prevents light from entering either partially or completely, according to the degree of opacity. When this opacity reaches the ultimate limit, the vision is weakened to such an extent that the patient cannot see the movement of a hand close to the eye and he cannot distinguish anything that he sees.
To explain contracts in scientific terms, the lens of the eye is formed of a capsule which contains protein, and this protein consists of what is called Alpha crystalline, Beta crystalline, Gamma crystalline and albumin. It is changes in the denatured protein that causes opacity, which begins and then increases gradually. This protein in the capsule of the lens is arranged in harmonious manner in a small shape, in other words, each type of it is arranged in small shape composed of two arms folded around one another in harmonious, manner so that it can perform its function of letting light through that falls on the eye. Changes in the nature of this protein indicate a change in the degree of harmony and precise order. This change leads to random distribution. To make it clearer for the reader we can liken it to the white albumin, which is transparent and allows light to pass through or makes it turns in to random distribution and becomes opaque and it is not possible to see things through it. This is the opacity.

Q.How are cataracts treated according to current medical methods?

A.Up until the current time, treatment has focused on surgery, whether it is the traditional method of removing the opaque lens or siphoning off the protein of the lens and implanting a lens in part of the capsule. In either case, of course the strength of vision does not return to the way it was.

Q.How did you reach a solution to this chronic problem from the holy Quran?

 A. As previously stated and as I indicated, the lens of the eye is formed of a capsule containing protein that is distributed and arranged in small form, and changes in the nature of this protein or changes in the way it is arranged, lead to random distribution, which causes opacity. Hence I began to think of finding a substance that would isolate the protein that is not in harmony by means of a physical process. Not a chemical one, so that it would go back to its proper, harmonious, folded status. Because no previous research was to be found on this matter in the scientific periodicals, I was faced with difficulty on how to begin or how to find a starting point. We found the first glimmer of hope in Surah Yoosuf, where it speaks of Yaqub (Jacob, Yoosuf’s father) in the passage where Allah says:
And he turned away from them and said: "Alas, my grief for Yusuf (Joseph)!" And he lost his sight because of the sorrow that he was suppressing.” (Soorah Yoosuf, 12:84)
What Yoosuf did, on the basis of revelation from his Lord, was to ask his brothers to take to their father a shirt of healing:
"Go with this shirt of mine, and cast it over the face of my father, he will become clear-sighted, and bring to me all your family." And when the caravan departed, their father said: "I do indeed feel the smell of Yoosuf, if only you think me not a dotard (a person who has weakness of mind because of old age)."  They said: "By Allah! Certainly, you are in your old error." Then, when the bearer of the glad tidings arrived, he cast it (the shirt) over his face, and he became clear-sighted. He said: "Did I not say to you, 'I know from Allah that which you know not. (Soorah Yoosuf 12:93-96)

Q: What could there have been of healing in the shirt of Yoosuf (peace be upon him)?

A. After thinking about it, we could not come up with anything other than sweat. So our research was about the components of human sweat. We took lenses that had been extracted from eyes by traditional surgical methods, and we soaked them in sweat, and we found that gradual transparency began to occur in these opaque lenses.
The next question was: Were all the components of sweat effective in this case, or was it just one of these components? By separating them, it was possible to reach one of the basic components, which is the compound urea, which can be chemically prepared. By carrying out experiments on laboratory animals in which opacity or whiteness of the lens of the eye had been introduced by means of rays or  by means of what is called opacity caused by galactose, it was found that this chemically prepared galactose caused whiteness of the lens. It was also proved that they had this disease by means of an examination using slit lamp and ultra sound waves, and by shining red lights on the lens of the eye.
After that, the matter required carrying out tests on a physiological sample done on the computer, which takes half an hour and costs 0.25 million dollars. Opacity was introduced to the lens of the eye and the amount of light passing through it was calculated by computer before putting drops in the eye. It was found to be no more than 2 percent, and after putting the drops in the eye it was found that the amount of light passing through increased from 2 percent to 60 percent in a quarter of an hour, then to 90 percent after 20 minutes, then to 95 percent after 30 minute, and to 99 percent after an hour.

Q. Are there any side effects to using sweat?

A. Not at all. This was a matter of great concern especially since sweat is regarded as an expelled waste product and especially the effective substance in sweat which as we have stated above is a derivative of urine. Hence it was essential to carry out official experiments on laboratory animals and give them these compounds in a concentrated form that was 10 times stronger, either by mouth or by injections in the pericardium. No side effects or toxic effects were found at all; it did not affect the functions of the liver, kidneys, brain or blood.

Q.This has to do with experiments on animals, namely rabbits, and on physiological samples. What about experiments on humans?

A. The results of experiments carried out on 250 volunteers recorded the disappearance of this whiteness and restoration of eyesight to more than 90 percent, as for the cases which did not respond it was found in clinical examinations that the protein of the lens had become transparent, but there were other reasons, such as disease of the retina, which meant the eyesight was not restored to its natural levels. And as for its effect on the heart, no such side effect was seen, and there were no effects on the function of the liver, kidneys , brain or blood.

Q. Are there diseases other than cataracts which can be treated by these drops?

A. Yes, there is also whiteness of the cornea. Weak eyesight may results from thrombosis or changes in the nature of the corneal protein. It was also proved by means of experiments that putting these drops twice a day for two weeks takes away this whiteness in the pupil or iris of the eye, application of these drops restored the eye to good health after two weeks.

Q: Do you think that this research represents an incentive to do more research and applied studies based on the texts of the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah?

A. Definitely. The miracles of the Holy Quran never cease. I believe that focusing on studying the texts of the Quran and Sunnah with awareness will open new horizons in all fields, to serve mankind in all places.”

A camel prostrating to the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him)

It is reported on the authority of Anas RadhiyAllah anhu that he said:

There was a family from among the Ansar who had a camel upon which they used to water their crops and the camel became difficult for them to handle and would not allow anything on its back. The Ansar went to the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) and said:

"We have a camel which we used for watering our crops and now it has become difficult for us to handle and refuses to let us put anything on its back, and now the crops and the date-palms have become dry."

The Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) said to his companions: "Get up"

So they stood up and he (May peace be upon him) entered the orchard and found the camel in a corner. The Prophet (Peace be upon him)walked toward it and the Ansar said: "Oh ,Prophet of Allah!(Peace be upon him) It has become like a wild dog and we fear that it will harm you."

He(Peace be upon him) said: "It will not harm me."

When the camel looked towards the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him),it approached him and fell down in prostration before him. The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) took hold of its forelock and led it along ,more subdued than it had ever been and put it to work.

His Companions said: "Oh! Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him)! This animal which is without reason or understanding has prostrated to you, while we are rational beings, so we have more right to prostate to you."

He (Peace be upon him) said: "It does not befit any human being that he should prostrate to another human being. If it were right for human being to prostrate to another human being , I would have commanded the wife to prostrate to her husband, due to his great right upon her. By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, if from his feet to the parting of his hair was a boil flowing with pus and she were to face him and lick it up,she would not have fulfilled his right upon her."

Witness Some of the Miracles of the Mujāhidīn in Kuwait

In the Name of Allāh, the Beneficent, the Most-Merciful

So this, O brethren in Islām, are some of the miracles of the Mujāhidīn in the events that took place in Kuwait at the beginning of 2005 between the Mujāhidīn and between the protectors of the cross.

And before I mention these miracles;

We should remember that the Mujāhidīn there had prepared the preparations and readied themselves to hit the crusader bases from which the American and British convoys would launch off for the purpose of hitting and killing the Muslims in Irāq.

And these bases were, and still are, spread out through the north, south, east, and west of Kuwait, and encircle Kuwait completely - from the south there is a base and in the north there is a base between Ad-Dā'irī As-Sābi' and the Saudi border, and it is named after one of the American states.

And in the east there is a training camp and a base, and it also has the name of one of the American states.

And there are also crusader bases present close to the Kuwait airport, and in the center of Kuwait.

And these bases were the target of the Mujāhidīn that year. However, the servants and the protectors of the cross and those protecting their American masters refused that there should be anything except an impregnable barricade and a fence to prevent the Mujāhidīn from reaching there.

And if we review the events, we would find that the first ones to begin the attack on these youth were the security forces - the servants and the protectors of the cross. And this is known to any Kuwaiti who has an atom's weight of Īmān in his heart.

This is an introduction so that the reader understands [the entire] picture.

And with regards to the miracles, then we will begin with the instance of the fighting in As-Sālimiyyah, where the lion, Nāsir Khalīf Al-'Anzī died. And one of the special security figures died, and he was a vile Rāfidī.

And one who I deem to be trustworthy narrated to me and told me, "I and Nāsir were in Irāq, fighting there, and Nāsir saw a dream that he would kill [Ariel] Sharon in As-Sālimiyyah."

And I leave you now with the testimony of one of the men of the special forces , who was present at the events at As-Sālimiyyah, and this is a testimony I heard from him myself, and I swear by Allāh about that.

The brother said, "Nāsir was within a building fighting us, and with him were two of the Mujāhidīn, but they were not armed. And Nāsir was like a lion, ascending and descending within the building, and we would find that we were being fired at from all of the windows and openings [of the building], and we were saying to ourselves, 'It is impossible that he is alone.' And the fighting continued for several long hours, without us being able to come close to the Mujāhidīn."

And the brother says, "At the end of the fighting, one of our companions from the members of the forces was killed, and Nāsir, may Allāh have Mercy upon him, was the biggest concern of the state security forces."

He said, "[After Nāsir was killed], and when I came close and saw Nāsir's body, I witnessed something I had never seen in my entire life."

He said, "I saw Nāsir's face emitting a strange light, and I saw his finger signaling to Tawhīd," and he swore to me that he smelled the smell of Misk emanating from his body.

He said, "Then I went to the body of our Rāfidī companion."

He said, "I found his face was black and he looked disfigured, and we smelled a rotten smell coming from him."

The brother said, "After that, I was sure and I became certain that these youth were upon the Truth, and we the police force were fighting in the path of At-Tāghūt, upon falsehood, and for the sake of protecting the cross."

And he said, "I returned to my house immediately, and I threw out my military clothes in the garbage. And I began to cry and I said to myself, 'Wallāhi, after this day I will not be a soldier from the soldiers of the Tāghūt, and I will not sell my religion and lose the Dunyā and the Ākhirah for the sake of the cross."

And he said, "I praise Allāh that I was not killed at the hands of the Mujāhidīn at the time."

And now that brother, after he freed himself from the police force, he became steadfast and let his his beard grow, and his story is well known amongst the people of Kuwait who know him, we ask Allāh to bless him.

And the following is the account of one who washes the bodies in the Al-Jahrā' cemetery, where Nāsir was buried.

And this washer did not know Nāsir, and during the carrying of the body to the grave, he narrated this instance to the awe-inspiring congregation whose numbers surpassed the thousands for the attendance of Nāsir's Janāzah.

He said, "I have been washing [bodies] for over 40 years, and Wallāhi, and again, Wallāhi, I have never come upon a body better than this body - neither in smell or in form."

What some wise people had said about Quran

The French philosopher Alex Lawazon wrote, “Mohamed (Peace be upon him) left to the world a Book that is a miracle of eloquence; it is a holy Book that is repository of lofty manners and teachings. Nothing that has been discovered in modern day knowledge contradicts the fundamental teachings of Islam; in fact, there is complete harmony between the teachings of the Qur’an and the laws of nature.”
(Bil-Qur’an Aslama Haaulaa by ‘Abdul –‘Azeez Sayyid Al-Ghazzaawee Page 47, 48)

“…the rhetoric and rhythm of the Arabic of the Qur’an are so characteristic, so powerful, and so highly emotive, that any version whatsoever is bound by the nature of things to be but a copy of the glittering splendor of the original”
(The Qur’an Interpreted by Arthur Arberry Page 24)

Louis Saydayyo said, “It is important to point out that, despite the many languages that are spoken by the Asia…and of Africa, there is a Book that they all understands and that united them in spite of the diffrenet natures; and the book is Qur’an.
(Taareekh Al-‘Arab Al-‘Aam Page 458)

Dr. Shoombas, a German Orientalist, said, “Perhaps you will be amazed to hear this confession from a European such as myself. But I cannot help myself: I have studied the Qur’an myself and have found in it great eloquence and profoundly wise teachings, such as I have never come across throughout my entire life. One line from the Qur’an is worth volumes. Without a doubt, therefore this Qur’an is the greatest miracle that Mohamed (Peace be upon him) came with from his Lord."
(Bil-Qur’an Aslama Haaulaa by ‘Abdul –‘Azeez Sayyid Al-Ghazzaawee Page 49)

"...the Meccans still demanded of him a miracle, and with remarkable boldness and self confidence Mohammad (Peace be upon him)appealed as a supreme confirmation of his mission to the Koran itself. Like all Arabs they were the connoisseurs of language and rhetoric. Well, then if the Koran were his own composition other men could rival it. Let them produce ten verses like it. If they could not (and it is obvious that they could not), then let them accept the Koran as an outstanding evident miracle
(Islam - A Historical Survey, by H A R Gibb Page 28)

The French scholar Count Henri D. Castarey wrote, "It boggles the mind to contemplate how those Verses (of the Qur’an) could have come from an illiterate man. The entire population of the East agrees that the human mind is incapable of producing Verses that cam match either its wordings or meanings."
(Al-Qur’an Al-Kareem Min Mandhoor Gharbee by Dr. ‘Imadud-Deen Khaleel Page 18)

"The above observation makes the hypothesis advanced by those who see Muhammad as the author of the Qur'an untenable. How could a man, from being illiterate, become the most important author, in terms of literary merits, in the whole of Arabic literature? How could he then pronounce truths of a scientific nature that no other human being could possibly have developed at that time, and all this without once making the slightest error in his pronouncement on the subject?"
("The Bible, the Qur'an and Science" by Dr. Maurice Bucaille Page 125)

James Matchins said, “Perhaps no book is read more widely throughout the world than the Qur’an; at any rate, it is surely the easiest to memorize, and has more of an impact than any other book on the day-to-day lives of those who believe in it. Among its qualities is that no sooner do it’s Versus come into contact with man’s heart than he feels a sense of spirituality, a sense that is accompanied by an increase of Faith.”
(Al-Qur’an Al-Kareem Min Mandhoor Gharbee by Dr. ‘Imadud-Deen Khaleel Page 18)

The Orientalist Sail said, “The style of the Qur’an is truly beautiful…especially when it discuses the Greatness and Majesty of Allah. One of the most amazing qualities of the Qur’an is that it enraptures the heart of any person who listens to it being recited, regardless of whether that person believes on it or rejects it.”

The blessed invitation

Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Abu Talhah (May Allah be pleased with him) said to (to his wife) Umm Sulaim(May Allah be pleased with her), "I noticed some weakness in the voice of Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and I feel it was due to hunger. Have you got any food?'' She said, "Yes.'' So she brought out barley loaves, took off her head covering, in a part of which she wrapped these loaves and then put them beneath my mantle and covered me with a part of it. She then sent me to Messenger of Allah (PBUH). I set forth and found Messenger of Allah (PBUH) sitting in the mosque in the company of some people. I stood near them whereupon Messenger of Allah (PBUH) asked, "Has Abu Talhah sent you?'' I said, "Yes.'' Thereupon he said to those who were with him to get up (and follow him). He went forth and so did I, ahead of them until I came to Abu Talhah and informed him. Abu Talhah said, "O Umm Sulaim, here comes Messenger of Allah (PBUH) along with the people and we do not have enough (food) to feed them.'' She said, "Allah and His Messenger know better.'' Abu Talhah went out (to receive him) until he met Messenger of Allah (PBUH), and he came forward along with him until they both (Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and Abu Talhah (May Allah be pleased with him) came in. Then Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "O Umm Sulaim, bring forth what you have with you.'' So she brought the bread. Messenger of Allah (PBUH) commanded that the bread be broken into small pieces and after Umm Sulaim (May Allah be pleased with her) had squeezed clarified butter out of a butter container and made it just like soup. Messenger of Allah (PBUH) recited over it what Allah wished him to recite. He then said, "Allow ten guests to come in.'' They ate until they had their fill. They then went out. He (Messenger of Allah (PBUH)) again said, "Allow ten (more to come in)'', and he (the host) ushered them in. They ate to their fill. Then they went out. He (PBUH) again said, "Allow ten (more),'' until all the people ate to their fill. They were seventy or eighty persons.
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Another narration is: Anas said: When all had eaten, the remaining food was collected. It was as much as there was in the beginning.

Yet another narration is: Anas said: The groups of ten people ate by turn. After eighty persons had eaten, Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and the family of that house ate, and there was still a quantity left over.

Another narration is: Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I visited Messenger of Allah (PBUH) one day, and found him sitting in the company of his Companions, with a belt tied over his waist. I asked, "Why has Messenger of Allah (PBUH) tied the belt on his waist?'' I was told, "Due to hunger.'' I went to Abu Talhah (May Allah be pleased with him) the husband of Umm Sulaim (May Allah be pleased with her) and said, "O father, I have seen Messenger of Allah (PBUH) with a belt tied over his waist. I asked one of his Companions about the reason of it and he said that it was on account of severe hunger.'' Abu Talhah (May Allah be pleased with him) went to my mother and asked, "Have you got anything?'' She said, "Yes. I have a piece of bread and some dry dates. Were Messenger of Allah (PBUH) to come alone, we could feed him his fill, but if he comes along with others, there would not be enough food.'' Anas then narrated the Hadith in full.

The Quran recitation

which the angels came to listen

Narrated Usaid bin Hudair:

That while he was reciting Surat Al-Baqara (The Cow) at night, and his horse was tied beside him, the horse was suddenly startled and troubled. When he stopped reciting, the horse became quiet, and when he started again, the horse was startled again. Then he stopped reciting and the horse became quiet too. He started reciting again and the horse was startled and troubled once again. Then he stopped reciting and his son, Yahya was beside the horse. He was afraid that the horse might trample on him. When he took the boy away and looked towards the sky, he could not see it. The next morning he informed the Prophet who said, "Recite, O Ibn Hudair! Recite, O Ibn Hudair!" Ibn Hudair replied, "O Allah's Apostle! My son, Yahya was near the horse and I was afraid that it might trample on him, so I looked towards the sky, and went to him. When I looked at the sky, I saw something like a cloud containing what looked like lamps, so I went out in order not to see it." The Prophet said, "Do you know what that was?" Ibn Hudair replied, "No." The Prophet said, "Those were Angels who came near to you for your voice and if you had kept on reciting till dawn, it would have remained there till morning when people would have seen it as it would not have disappear

Owais

bin `Amir

A clear miracle of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)

Usair bin `Amr (Ibn Jabir) reported: When delegations from Yemen came to the help of (the Muslim army at the time of Jihad) `Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) would ask them, "Is there Owais bin `Amir amongst you?'' (He continued searching him) until he met Owais (May Allah be pleased with him). He said, "Are you Owais bin `Amir?'' He said, "Yes". `Umar asked, "Are you from the Qaran branch of the tribe of Murad?'' He said, "Yes". He `Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) again said, "Did you suffer from leucoderma and then you were cured from it but for the space of a dirham?'' He said, "Yes". He `Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) said, "Is your mother still alive?'' He said, "Yes". He `Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) said, "I heard Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, `There would come to you Owais bin `Amir with the reinforcement from the people of Yemen. He would be from Qaran (the branch) of Murad. He had been suffering from leucoderma from which he was cured but for a spot of a dirham. He has a mother to whom he is very dutiful. If he were to take an oath in the Name of Allah, Allah would fulfill his oath. And if it is possible for you, ask him to ask forgiveness for you.' So, ask forgiveness for me". He Owais (May Allah be pleased with him) did so. `Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) then said, "Where do you intend to go?'' He said, "To Kufah.'' He `Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) said, "Let me write a letter for you to its governor,'' whereupon he Owais (May Allah be pleased with him) said, "I love to live amongst the poor people". The following year, a person from among the elite (of Kufah) performed Hajj and he met `Umar (May Allah be pleased with him). `Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) asked him about Owais (May Allah be pleased with him). He said, "I left him in a state with meagre means of sustenance in a decayed house.'' (Thereupon) `Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) said, "I heard Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, `There would come to you Owais bin `Amir of Qaran, a branch (of the tribe) of Murad, along with the reinforcement of the people of Yemen. He had been suffering from leucoderma which would have been cured but for the space of a dirham. He has a mother to whom he is very dutiful. Were he to swear, trusting Allah, for something, Allah would fulfill his oath. If you can ask him to pray for forgiveness for you, do so". This man went to Owais (May Allah be pleased with him) and asked him to pray for forgiveness for him. Owais (May Allah be pleased with him) said to him, "You have just returned from a blessed journey, it is you who should pray for forgiveness for me; and did you meet `Umar?'' The man said, "Yes". `Owais (May Allah be pleased with him) then prayed for forgiveness for him. People became aware of the high status of Owais (May Allah be pleased with him) and he set out following his course.

Fayrooz Ad-Daylamee

After returning from his farewell pilgrimage, the Prophet, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, fell gravely ill. News about his illness reached the corners of the Arabian Peninsula. It was a propitious moment for the false prophets to spread their falsehood, and it was indeed a great trial for the newly reverted Muslims. Many of them followed their regional leaders who claimed to be prophets. The most famous were the three liars: Musaylimah in Yamamah, Tulayhah al-Usdee in Bani Asad, and al-Aswad al-Ansee in Yemen.

Al-Aswad was an evil man, of huge stature. He possessed a great eloquence and a convincing speech. Those he could not win through trickery, he would try to buy with money. He always appeared to people wearing a mask, surrounding himself with mystery and enigma.

At that time the "Sons", a group of men whose fathers were Persians, and whose mothers were Arabs, were the ruling families of Yemen. Their elder, Baathan, was the appointed king by the Persian Emperor. Bathan embraced Islam, after an event that showed to him the clear proofs of Muhammad's Message. He disavowed his allegiance to the Persian emperor, and the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam proclaimed him ruler over his people.

The first people to believe al-Aswad were his tribe Banu Math-hij. He led them in the raid of Sanaa, killed its governor Shahr, son of Bathan, and married his widow Athad. His army raided the regions around San'aa, and his reign spread over all Yemen up to Taif and down to Hadramut.

No sooner had the Prophet, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, heard of al-Awsad's apostasy than he sent ten of the companions to a few trusted Muslims in Yemen, whom he head great hope they would not renegade. They encouraged them to oppose the liar al-Aswad, and rally all the truthful Muslims to fight him. The first to answer the Prophet's call was Fayrooz ad-Daylamee, along with the "Sons". Fayrooz related the story of the struggle against al-Aswad himself:

Prophet Muhammad's (Pbuh) Miracles

Imam an-Nawawi

The Messenger of Allah (Pbuh) possesses many manifest miracles and signs demonstrating [his veracity], reaching thousands and they are well known.

From amongst them was the Qur'an, the manifest and clear miracle and brilliant proof, falsehood cannot approach it from before it or behind it. It is a revelation from One Who is All-Wise and Praiseworthy. It incapacitated the most eloquent of people in the most eloquent of times to produce a single chapter that would be comparable to it, even if the whole of creation were to gather for that purpose. Allah, the Exalted says,

"Say: If the whole of mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like of it, even if they assisted each other." [Al-Israa' (17): 88]

It challenged them to this despite their large numbers, their eloquence and their severe enmity, and it challenges them to this day.

As for the other miracles, it is not possible to enumerate them all due to their huge number and renewing and increasing nature. However, I will mention some examples:

The splitting of the moon, water flowing from between his fingers, increasing the quantity of food and water, the glorification of the food, the palm tree yearning for him, stones greeting him, the talking of the poisoned leg [of roasted sheep], trees walking towards him, two trees that were far apart coming together and then parting again, the barren [and therefore dry] sheep giving milk, his returning the eye of Qatidah bin an-Nu`man to its place with his hand after it had slipped out, his spitting lightly into the eye of Ali when it had become inflamed and its being cured almost immediately, his wiping the leg of `Abdullah bin `Atiq whereupon he was immediately cured.

Prophets(Peace be upon him) miracle, the crying of date palm

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah:

The Prophet (Peace be upon him)used to stand by a tree or a date-palm on Friday. Then an Ansari woman or man said. "O Allah's Apostle! Shall we make a pulpit for you?" He (Peace be upon him)replied, "If you wish." So they made a pulpit for him and when it was Friday, he proceeded towards the pulpit (for delivering the sermon). The date-palm cried like a child! The Prophet(Peace be upon him) descended (the pulpit) and embraced it while it continued moaning like a child being quietened. The Prophet(Peace be upon him) said, "It was crying for (missing) what it used to hear of religious knowledge given near to it."

Prophet (peace be upon him) invokes for rain

Narrated Sharik bin 'Abdullah bin Abi Namir:

I heard Anas bin Malik saying, "On a Friday a person entered the main Mosque through the gate facing the pulpit while Allah's Apostle was delivering the Khutba. The man stood in front of Allah's Apostle and said, 'O Allah's Apostle! The livestock are dying and the roads are cut off; so please pray to Allah for rain.' " Anas added, "Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) raised both his hands and said, 'O Allah! Bless us with rain! O Allah! Bless us with rain! O Allah! Bless us with rain!' " Anas added, "By Allah, we could not see any trace of cloud in the sky and there was no building or a house between us and (the mountains of) Sila." Anas added, "A heavy cloud like a shield appeared from behind it (i.e. Sila' Mountain). When it came in the middle of the sky, it spread and then rained." Anas further said, "By Allah! We could not see the sun for a week. Next Friday a person entered through the same gate and at that time Allah's Apostle was delivering the Friday's Khutba. The man stood in front of him and said, 'O Allah's Apostle! The livestock are dying and the roads are cut off, please pray to Allah to with-hold rain.' " Anas added, "Allah's Apostle I raised both his hands and said, 'O Allah! Round about us and not on us. O Allah! On the plateaus, on the mountains, on the hills, in the valleys and on the places where trees grow.' So the rain stopped and we came out walking in the sun." Sharik asked Anas whether it was the same person who had asked for the rain (the last Friday). Anas replied that he did not know.
