"By Allah, if I knew of any word more enraging to you than this, I would say it."

They laid Bilal ibn Rabah (may Allah be pleased with him) on the burning ground beneath the heat of Makkah.

Then they placed a heavy stone upon his chest, hoping he would abandon his faith.

They threatened him, tortured him, and demanded that he renounce Allah.

Bilal kept saying "Aḥad... Aḥad."
"One God....One God"

He then said:

"By Allah, if I knew of any word more enraging to you than this, I would say it."

Then he continued:

"Aḥad... Aḥad."
"One God....One God"
